5:1~13
5:1 가난한 백성이 부르짖다 그 때에 백성들이 그들의 아내와 함께 크게 부르짖어 그들의 형제인 유다 사람들을 원망하는데
5:2 어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리와 우리 자녀가 많으니 양식을 얻어 먹고 살아야 하겠다 하고
5:3 어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리가 밭과 포도원과 집이라도 저당 잡히고 이 흉년에 곡식을 얻자 하고
5:4 어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리는 밭과 포도원으로 돈을 빚내서 왕에게 세금을 바쳤도다
5:5 우리 육체도 우리 형제의 육체와 같고 우리 자녀도 그들의 자녀와 같거늘 이제 우리 자녀를 종으로 파는도다 우리 딸 중에 벌써 종된 자가 있고 우리의 밭과 포도원이 이미 남의 것이 되었으나 우리에게는 아무런 힘이 없도다 하더라
5:6 내가 백성의 부르짖음과 이런 말을 듣고 크게 노하였으나
5:7 깊이 생각하고 귀족들과 민장들을 꾸짖어 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 각기 형제에게 높은 이자를 취하는도다 하고 대회를 열고 그들을 쳐서
5:8 그들에게 이르기를 우리는 이방인의 손에 팔린 우리 형제 유다 사람들을 우리의 힘을 다하여 도로 찾았거늘 너희는 너희 형제를 팔고자 하느냐 더구나 우리의 손에 팔리게 하겠느냐 하매 그들이 잠잠하여 말이 없기로
5:9 내가 또 이르기를 너희의 소행이 좋지 못하도다 우리의 대적 이방 사람의 비방을 생각하고 우리 하나님을 경외하는 가운데 행할 것이 아니냐
5:10 나와 내 형제와 종자들도 역시 돈과 양식을 백성에게 꾸어 주었거니와 우리가 그 이자 받기를 그치자
5:11 그런즉 너희는 그들에게 오늘이라도 그들의 밭과 포도원과 감람원과 집이며 너희가 꾸어 준 돈이나 양식이나 새 포도주나 기름의 백분의 일을 돌려보내라 하였더니
5:12 그들이 말하기를 우리가 당신의 말씀대로 행하여 돌려보내고 그들에게서 아무것도 요구하지 아니하리이다 하기로 내가 제사장들을 불러 그들에게 그 말대로 행하겠다고 맹세하게 하고
5:13 내가 옷자락을 털며 이르기를 이 말대로 행하지 아니하는 자는 모두 하나님이 또한 이와 같이 그 집과 산업에서 털어 버리실지니 그는 곧 이렇게 털려서 빈손이 될지로다 하매 회중이 다 아멘 하고 여호와를 찬송하고 백성들이 그 말한 대로 행하였느니라

5:1~13
5:1 가난한 이들이 외치다 백성 사이에서 유다인 동포를 원망하는 소리가 크게 일고 있다. 부인들이 더 아우성이다.
5:2 더러는 이렇게 울부짖는다. "우리 아들딸들, 거기에다 우리까지, 이렇게 식구가 많으니, 입에 풀칠이라도 하고 살아가려면, 곡식이라도 가져 오자 !"
5:3 또 어떤 이들은 이렇게 울부짖는다. "배가 고파서 곡식을 얻느라고, 우리는 밭도 포도원도 집도 다 잡혔다 !"
5:4 또 어떤 이들은 이렇게 외친다. "우리는 왕에게 세금을 낼 돈이 없어서, 밭과 포도원을 잡히고 돈을 꾸어야만 했다 !"
5:5 또 더러는 이렇게 탄식한다. "우리의 몸이라고 해서, 유다인 동포들의 몸과 무엇이 다르냐 ? 우리의 자식이라고 해서 그들의 자식과 무엇이 다르단 말이냐 ? 그런데도 우리가 아들딸을 종으로 팔아야 하다니 ! 우리의 딸 가운데는 벌써 노예가 된 아이들도 있는데, 밭과 포도원이 다 남의 것이 되어서, 우리는 어떻게 손을 쓸 수도 없다."
5:6 그들의 울부짖음과 탄식을 듣고 보니, 나 또한 치밀어 오르는 분노를 참을 수가 없다.
5:7 나는 그들의 울부짖는 내용을 신중하게 살핀 다음에, 귀족들과 관리들에게, 어찌하여, 같은 겨레까리 돈놀이를 하느냐고 호되게 나무랐다. 이 문제를 다루어야 하겠기에, 나는 대회를 열고서,
5:8 귀족들과 관리들에게 말하였다. "우리는 이방 사람들에게 팔려서, 애써 몸값을 치르고 데려왔소. 그런데 지금 당신들은 동포를 또 팔고 있소. 이제, 우리더러 그들을 다시 사오라는 말이오 ?" 이렇게 말하였으나, 그들 가운데 대답하는 사람이 아무도 없다. 그들에게는 할 말이 없을 것이다.
5:9 내가 말을 계속하였다. "당신들이 한 처사는 옳지 않소. 이방인 원수들에게 웃음거리가 되지 않으려거든 하나님을 두려워하면서 살아야 합니다.
5:10 나도, 나의 친족도, 그리고 내 아랫사람들도, 백성에게 돈과 곡식을 꾸어 주고 있소. 제발, 이제부터는 백성에게서 이자 받는 것을 그만둡시다.
5:11 그러니 당신들도 밭과 포도원과 올리브 밭과 집을 당장 다 돌려주시오. 돈과 곡식과 새 포도주와 올리브 기름을 꾸어 주고서 받는 비싼 이자도, 당장 돌려주시오."
5:12 그들은 대답하였다. "모두 돌려주겠습니다. 그들에게서 아무 것도 받지 않겠습니다. 말씀하신 대로 다 하겠습니다." 나는 곧 제사장들을 불러모르고, 그 자리에서 귀족들과 관리들에게 자기들이 약속한 것을 서약하게 하였다.
5:13 나는 또 나의 주머니를 털어 보이면서 말하였다. "이 서약을 지키지 않는 사람은, 하나님이 그 집과 재산을 이렇게 다 털어 버리실 것이오. 그런 자는 털리고 털려서, 마침내 빈털터리가 되고 말 것이오." 내가 이렇게 말하자, 거기에 모인 모든 사람이 "아멘 !" 하며 주를 찬양하였다. 백성은 약속을 지켰다.

5:4 혹은 말하기를 우리는 밭과 포도원으로 돈을 빚내어 세금을 바쳤도다
5:5 우리 육체도 우리 형제의 육체와 같고 우리 자녀도 저희 자녀 같거늘 이제 우리 자녀를 종으로 파는도다 우리 딸 중에 벌써 종 된 자가 있으나 우리의 밭과 포도원이 이미 남의 것이 되었으니 속량할 힘이 없도다
5:6 내가 백성의 부르짖음과 이런 말을 듣고 크게 노하여
5:7 중심에 계획하고 귀인과 민장을 꾸짖어 이르기를 너희가 각기 형제에게 취리를 하는도다 하고 대회를 열고 저희를 쳐서
5:8 이르기를 우리는 이방인의 손에 팔린 우리 형제 유다 사람들을 우리의 힘을 다하여 속량하였거늘 너희는 너희 형제를 팔고자 하느냐 더구나 우리의 손에 팔리게 하겠느냐 하매 저희가 잠잠하여 말이 없기로
5:9 내가 또 이르기를 너희의 소위가 좋지 못하도다 우리 대적 이방 사람의 비방을 생각하고 우리 하나님을 경외함에 행할 것이 아니냐
5:10 나와 내 형제와 종자들도 역시 돈과 곡식을 백성에게 취하여 주나니 우리가 그 이식 받기를 그치자
5:11 그런즉 너희는 오늘이라도 그 밭과 포도원과 감람원과 집이며 취한 바 돈이나 곡식이나 새 포도주나 기름의 백분지 일을 돌려 보내라 하였더니
5:12 저희가 말하기를 우리가 당신의 말씀대로 행하여 돌려 보내고 아무것도 요구하지 아니하리이다 하기로 내가 제사장들을 불러 저희에게 그 말대로 행하리라는 맹세를 시키게 하고
5:13 내가 옷자락을 떨치며 이르기를 이 말대로 행치 아니하는 자는 하나님이 또한 이와 같이 그 집과 산업에서 떨치실지니 저는 곧 이렇게 떨쳐져 빌지로다 하매 회중이 다 아멘 하고 여호와를 찬송하고 백성들이 그 말한 대로 행하였느니라

5:1 그런데 백성들 중의 일부 유다인 동족들에게 불평이 생겨 여자들까지 아우성을 치는 일이 벌어졌다.
5:2 "살아 보겠다고, 목에 풀칠이라도 해야겠다고, 우리는 아들 딸을 잡혔다" 하는 사람이 있는가 하면,
5:3 "흉년이 들어 입에 풀칠이라도 해야겠어서 우리는 밭도 포도원도 집도 모두 잡혔다" 하는 사람도 있고,
5:4 "황제에게 세금 낼 돈이 없어서 우리는 밭도 포도원도 모두 잡혔다" 하며 외치는 사람도 있었다.
5:5 "한 겨레인데 저희 살이나 우리 살이나 무엇이 다르냐? 제 자식이아까우면 남의 자식 아까운 줄도 알아야 할 것이 아니냐? 우리 꼴을 보아라. 우리는 제 아들 딸을 종으로 팔아 먹는 신세다. 딸들이 짓밟히는데도 우리는 어떻게 손쓸 힘이 없구나. 우리 밭이나 포도원은 이미 남의 손에 들어 가고 말았다."
5:6 이러한 아우성 소리를 듣고 나는 매우 화가 났지만,
5:7 마음을 억누르며 회의를 소집하여 유지들과 관리들을 모아 놓고 어찌하여 한 겨레끼리 돈놀이를 하느냐고 호되게 꾸중을 하였다.
5:8 "유다인들은 유리와 한 겨레요. 그 우리의 겨레가 남의 나라에 팔려 갔던 것을 우리는 일껏 찾아 왔소. 그런데 그대들은 제 겨레를 또 팔아 먹다니, 우리더러 다시 찾아 오라는 말이오?" 그들이 입을 다문 채 아무 말도
5:9 나는 말을 이었다. "이건 정말 못할 짓이오. 우리를 미워하는 다른 나라 사람들에게 욕이라도 얻어 먹지 않으려면 하느님 두려운 줄 알고 살아야 할 것 아니오?
5:10 나도, 내 일가도, 내 수하 사람들도 돈놀이를 하여 장리변을 놓아왔지만, 우리는 그 변리를 포기하기로 하였소.
5:11 그러니 그대들도 잡았던 밭이나 포도원이나 올리브밭이나 집을 오늘 당장 돌려 주도록 하시오. 또 돈이나 곡식이나 포도주나 올리브 기름을 꾸어 주고 변리를 받았거든 그것도 돌려 주도록 하시오."
5:12 "말씀대로 돌려 주고 변리를 거두어 들이지 않겠습니다" 하고 그들은 대답하였다. 그 말을 듣고 나는 사제들을 불러 그대로 하겠다는 서약을 받게 하였다.
5:13 그리고 나는 내 옷자락을 털며 말했다. " 이 말을 지키지 않으면,누구든지 하느님께서 이렇게 털어 버리실 것이오. 그의 성전에 들어 가서 주시는 것을 받아 먹지 못하고 빈털터리로 떨려날 것이오. " 온 회중은 " 아멘 " 하며 야훼를 찬양하였다. 이렇게 해서 백성은 서약한 대로 하였다.

5:1 얼마 후에 백성들이 자기 아내와 함께 그들의 지도자들에 대하여 불평하기 시작하였다.
5:2 어떤 사람들은 '우리에게는 자녀가 많다. 그러므로 먹고 살기 위해서는 곡식을 구해야 한다.' 하고
5:3 또 어떤 사람들은 '우리는 이 흉년에 밭이나 포도원이나 집이라도 저당잡히고 곡식을 얻어야 할 형편이 되었다.' 하였으며
5:4 또 다른 사람들은 이렇게 말하였다. '우리는 돈을 빌려 밭과 포도원의 토지세를 황제에게 바쳤다.
5:5 그들이나 우리는 다 같은 동족이며 우리 자녀들과 그들의 자녀들도 마찬가지가 아닌가? 그런데도 우리는 우리 자녀들을 종으로 팔아야 할 처지가 되었고 우리 딸 중에 몇은 이미 종으로 팔려 갔으나 우리 밭과 포도원이 남의 것이 되었으므로 몸값을 지불하고 데려올 힘이 없다.'
5:6 나는 그들이 불평하는 말을 듣고 대단히 화가 났다.
5:7 그래서 나는 신중히 생각한 다음 지도자들과 관리들을 꾸짖으며 '당신들은 당신들의 형제들을 착취하고 있소!' 하고 책망하였다. 그리고서 나는 이 문제를 처리하기 위해 큰 집회를 열고
5:8 지도자들과 관리들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '우리는 최선을 다해서 이방인들에게 팔린 우리 형제 유다 사람들을 도와 포로 생활에서 돌아오게 했는데 지금 여러분은 여러분의 형제들을 팔려고 합니다. 그것도 여러분의 동족에게 말입니다.' 그러자 그들은 할 말이 없는 듯 침묵을 지켰다.
5:9 그때 나는 다시 말을 이었다. '여러분의 소행이 옳지 못합니다. 여러분은 마땅히 하나님을 두려워하고 옳은 일을 해야만 합니다. 그러면 우리 원수인 이방 사람들에게 우리를 비웃을 구실을 주지 않을 것입니다.
5:10 나와 내 형제들과 그리고 나와 함께 있는 사람들도 백성들에게 돈과 곡식을 빌려 주고 있습니다만 이제 그 이자를 받지 않도록 합시다.
5:11 여러분은 오늘이라도 그들의 밭과 포도원과 감람원과 집을 되돌려 주고 또 여러분이 착취한 돈과 곡식과 새 포도주와 감람기름의 100분의 1을 돌려 주십시오.'
5:12 그러자 그들은 '우리가 당신의 말씀대로 모든 것을 되돌려 주고 아무것도 요구하지 않겠습니다.' 하고 대답하였다. 그래서 나는 제사장들을 불러 지도자들에게 자기들이 약속한 것을 지키겠다는 맹세를 시키도록 하였다.
5:13 그런 다음에 나는 내 옷자락을 털며 '이와 같이 하나님이 이 약속을 지키지 않는 사람들의 집과 재산을 털털 털어 빈털터리가 되게 하실 것입니다.' 하였다. 그러자 모든 군중이 '아멘' 하고 여호와를 찬양하였으며 그 지도자들은 자기들의 약속을 지켰다.

5:1 Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their Jewish brothers.
5:2 Some were saying, "We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain."
5:3 Others were saying, "We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine."
5:4 Still others were saying, "We have had to borrow money to pay the king's tax on our fields and vineyards.
5:5 Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our countrymen and though our sons are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others."
5:6 When I heard their outcry and these charges, I was very angry.
5:7 I pondered them in my mind and then accused the nobles and officials. I told them, "You are exacting usury from your own countrymen!" So I called together a large meeting to deal with them
5:8 and said: "As far as possible, we have bought back our Jewish brothers who were sold to the Gentiles. Now you are selling your brothers, only for them to be sold back to us!" They kept quiet, because they could find nothing to say.
5:9 So I continued, "What you are doing is not right. Shouldn't you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies?
5:10 I and my brothers and my men are also lending the people money and grain. But let the exacting of usury stop!
5:11 Give back to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves and houses, and also the usury you are charging them--the hundredth part of the money, grain, new wine and oil."
5:12 "We will give it back," they said. "And we will not demand anything more from them. We will do as you say." Then I summoned the priests and made the nobles and officials take an oath to do what they had promised.
5:13 I also shook out the folds of my robe and said, "In this way may God shake out of his house and possessions every man who does not keep this promise. So may such a man be shaken out and emptied!" At this the whole assembly said, "Amen," and praised the LORD. And the people did as they had promised.

5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, [are] many: therefore we take up corn [for them], that we may eat, and live.
5:3 [Some] also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, [and that upon] our lands and vineyards.
5:5 Yet now our flesh [is] as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and [some] of our daughters are brought unto bondage [already]: neither [is it] in our power [to redeem them]; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing [to answer].
5:9 Also I said, It [is] not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
5:10 I likewise, [and] my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
5:12 Then said they, We will restore [them], and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

5:6 Then I was very angry when I had heard their outcry and these words.
5:7 And I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers and said to them, "You are exacting usury, each from his brother!" Therefore, I held a great assembly against them.
5:8 And I said to them, "We according to our ability have redeemed our Jewish brothers who were sold to the nations; now would you even sell your brothers that they may be sold to us?" Then they were silent and could not find a word [to say.]
5:9 Again I said, "The thing which you are doing is not good; should you not walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the nations, our enemies?
5:10 "And likewise I, my brothers and my servants, are lending them money and grain. Please, let us leave off this usury.
5:11 "Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth [part] of the money and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil that you are exacting from them."
5:12 Then they said, "We will give [it] back and will require nothing from them; we will do exactly as you say." So I called the priests and took an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.
5:13 I also shook out the front of my garment and said, "Thus may God shake out every man from his house and from his possessions who does not fulfill this promise; even thus may he be shaken out and emptied." And all the assembly said, "Amen!" And they praised the LORD. Then the people did according to this promise.
